Year of the Dragon

Happy New Year, Chinese New Year that is. To kick off the Year of the Dragon we got up early on Monday morning to do our annual Monkeyshines glass ball search. If you haven't heard about the Monkeyshines, then you're really missing out. A crazy group of artists hide glass balls all around Tacoma, sometime around the Chinese New Year, and if you find one it's yours to keep. We've looked for the past 6 years and so far we've been lucky enough to find either a ball or a medallion. If you're intrigued, you can read more about it here.

This year Jordan found a dragon ball on 6th Avenue near a fire station.

Jordan also found a Beautiful Angle poster (he's extra lucky this year apparently).

And, finally...our good luck charm in his monkey pj's. We're really bad parents and woke Emmett up early to bring him on the hunt with us... but he also got his first visit to breakfast at the Hob Nob.

Happy New Year!

What better way to celebrate the Snowmageddon then to have an impromptu photo-shoot to capture baby Emmett's first snowflakes. Don't you love his new mittens?

After a few hours of relaxing on the couch we decided to see how the BOB handled the snowy roads.

As you can tell, Emmett really enjoyed the ride...

And, we enjoyed tasty Irish Coffees and Lunch!
Why can't everyday be a snow day?

Snow WHAT!???

This is Emmett reacting to what his Mom is calling Snowmaggedon. Sure, there is not any snow as of yet in our "neck of the woods" (Roker Plug), but the Snowpacolypse will soon be upon us people - BE STRONG. That's because "First Snowflake Freakout Lady" a/k/a Lisa, is preparing for the worst... a blizzard of epic proportions. Well, that is according to one possible scenario laid out by Cliff Mass.

Not sure who Cliff Mass is? He puts out a weather blog discussing our Pacific Northwest weather. Check out his blog here. According to Lisa he is the expert of weather experts; the creme dela creme among those other local hacks, who we need not mention here, who simply throw darts at weather charts. You see, Cliff Mass studies numerous weather patterns and models, then through infinite wisdom of weatherdumb can pinpoint the precise weather predictions like Nostradamus.

Sensing sarcasm? Well, I for one tend not always to go by what Mr. Mass has to say. As I recall last winter, some other local forecasters called for a bit of snow. But according to Lisa, Mr. Mass dismissed the predictions and suggested only some rain. Well as it turns out, I went to work and then spent over four hours in the car trying to get home that night. At least Mr. Mass has been known to eat some humble pie and states he doesn't always get it right, see here.

So, with many forecasts calling for 5 to 10 inches or even upwards of 15 inches... we shall see.

Meet The Foster Kids

Hi, I'm Emmett. As you can see, I get a bit puzzled as to why my parents are constantly taking pictures of me. But, when you're this good-looking I suppose it comes with the territory.

This is my mom and me. As you can see, she likes to carry me around... oh, and she also likes her wine.

This is me with my dad, at Zoolights. I'm pretty sure I don't want to be this cold again, and I don't ever want to be in this outfit again.

Finally, this is my cat, Mr. Big. He's a ragdoll kitty. He's good at three things: sleeping, begging for food (as shown above), and spreading his cat fur everywhere.
